“We may end up seeing it drop later this year”
- by Ben Kerry
There’s disappointment in the air surrounding Rockstar’s recent GTA 6 delay, for sure, but a new rumour doing the rounds suggests that the developer may well have something else GTA-related up its sleeve in the meantime.
According to Tez2, the well-known Rockstar leaker, a new current-gen port for Grand Theft Auto IV is in the works. It’s said that this new-gen version of GTA 4 has been in development for over a year, and that we “may end up seeing it drop later this year”.
The insider also mentions that a Max Payne 3 port may follow, which could work out fairly nicely alongside Remedy’s new version of Max Payne 1+2; which has been confirmed to be in the works by the Finnish studio. The GTA 4 and Max Payne 3 ports are still just rumour for now though, and given the vagueness of the above post, it’s probably worth tempering your expectations at the moment until we hear anything official from Rockstar.
It’s also worth remembering that almost three years ago now, this very same source said that GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption remasters were once at the cards at Rockstar – before being cancelled. However, we have seen a new port for Red Dead on other platforms quite recently, and it could be that the team is considering a similar move for its 2008 GTA title.
