By The renowned Michelle Yeoh is lined up to grace the screen in The Surgeon, an upcoming action flick from Thunder Road, the creative minds behind John Wick.
According to a report from Deadline, Yeoh will take on the role of a retired surgeon “who is kidnapped and coerced into performing medical procedures on a person of intrigue. Although she is seemingly outmanned, her assailants failed to factor in her lethal weapon: a wealth of surgical knowledge spanning 35 years. This results in a dynamic and thrilling confrontation, where she bests and demolishes her opponents in never-before-seen visual form.”
The Surgeon, scripted and directed by Roshan Sethi, a practicing physician and co-creator of The Resident, is projected to potentially pave the way for a franchise.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Sethi said in a statement, “I’m thrilled at the opportunity to infuse a fresh, innovative angle to the action genre, largely relying on my medical insight. I cannot imagine a better collaborator than Michelle, the reigning monarch of action who will exhibit her prowess in an unexpected way in this film, in addition to the production teams at Thunder Road, 193, and NeoText.”
Yeoh’s most recent role was the character Madame Morrible in 2024’s Wicked (a performance she’ll revisit in the sequel, Wicked Part 2), this year. She’s certainly no newcomer to the action scene, having starred in several martial arts films such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and the James Bond feature Tomorrow Never Dies.
As of now, The Surgeon’s release date remains undisclosed.
