Once more, the atmosphere of intrigue persists around Christopher Nolan’s forthcoming film as he endeavors to tackle the sword-and-sandal epic featuring one of the earliest recorded tales in history. The Odyssey is shaping up to be a cinematic masterpiece, bursting with a stellar ensemble, even though specific roles remain a mystery. At the forefront is Matt Damon’s portrayal of Odysseus, journeying back to his family on an arduous ten-year trek following the Trojan War. Understandably, bringing such a narrative to life will necessitate some thrilling action sequences, and a stunt performer on the project has recently disclosed insights about what lies ahead. During an appearance on the Action for Everyone podcast, James Newman kept significant specifics regarding the film minimal but made some audacious statements nonetheless. “They’re unlikely to create a movie like this ever again,” Newman remarked regarding Nolan’s first venture behind the lens since his Oscar-winning project, Oppenheimer. “I believe it’s going to be the epic of all epics. It will be Nolan at his finest. No restrictions.”

Nolan’s cast encompasses some well-known figures from his earlier films, including Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Elliot Page, and Benny Safdie. New faces feature Tom Holland, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Mia Goth, Jon Bernthal, and John Leguizamo. Naturally, with Spider-Man in the lineup, Holland is familiar with exerting himself to save the day, and Newman commended the star for showcasing his impressive athletic abilities for the film.

“I had the chance to partake in action scenes with a talented group for the film and also had the privilege of training Matt Damon and Tom Holland. All the speculation regarding Tom’s physical prowess is absolutely true. He can genuinely achieve anything. He deserves every physically demanding role,” Newman commented. “With Tom, he’s clearly more athletic and younger, serving as a younger incarnation of Odysseus.”
