This writer will always link GEX to the ill-starred 3DO, as the Crystal Dynamics figure was touted as a mascot for that console before truly landing on the PS1.

A number of Naughty Dog’s key personnel, such as Evan Wells and Bruce Straley, contributed to the series in their formative years.

Thus, the forthcoming Gex Trilogy will hold significant historical importance when it launches on the PS5 digitally on 16th June. Here’s a recap of what it offers, based on the press announcement:

GEX

  • HBO comedian Dana Gould energizes GEX with over 300 amusing one-liners and sound effects.
  • GEX’s big mouth often lands him in hot water, but it’s his powerful tail and suction cup feet that help him escape.
  • GEX finds himself trapped in the Media Dimension, where cheesy 70’s films go to retire. To break free, he needs to defeat TVs in each world.
  • More than 450 frames of fluid 3D animations and hand-crafted backgrounds!
  • GEX leaps and clings to everything, while thrashing through secret levels in pursuit of hidden remote controls.

GEX: Enter the Gecko

  • Massive Media Dimension Levels, all crafted as sarcastic parodies of beloved TV shows and movies.
  • Advanced Camera Control! Navigate and look anywhere in beautifully rendered 3D environments.
  • Talkin’ Trash! HBO comedian Dana Gould presents over 500 witty lip-synched impressions and one-liners!
  • Over 125 Stylish Gecko Moves! Whip-like tail strikes, soaring karate kicks, tongue catching, and scaling walls!
  • Master of Disguise! GEX dons a secret agent outfit, kung fu attire, spacesuit, and more costumes.

GEX 3: Deep Cover Gecko

  • Fresh character mechanics! Scuba diving, gliding, machine gun action, fire-ball flinging, and beyond!
  • Baywatch’s Marlice Andrada stars as the stunning Agent Xtra, spoofing voluptuous spy heroines of yesteryear.
  • All-new seamless 3D camera system.
  • More than 25 brand-new disguises! Private GEX, GEX Capone, Count DracuGEX, and others!
  • Over 1,000 clever jokes and celebrity impersonations by comedian Dana Gould.
  • Entirely new secret playable characters.
