And it’s coming this week

The latest Xbox Game Pass RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has seen a fantastic opening few weeks – with developer Sandfall Interactive now focusing on an initial patch, which will be released later this week.
Though the developers have yet to disclose the complete patch notes for Clair Obscur’s first hotfix, they have confirmed that a significant balance adjustment is on the way. The Stendhal ability is set for a considerable nerf as the team realized it was “too easy” to exploit.
Here’s Sandfall’s comprehensive explanation from social media:
“Expeditioners, a brief update about Stendhal and balance modifications:
We didn’t originally intend to implement balance changes this soon—just fixing bugs unless there was an obvious need.
Well, Stendhal emerged as that need.
It was lackluster for much of development, so during our final pre-release balance evaluation, we provided it with a significant damage boost—and clearly overcooked it. It ended up overshadowing most other options.
We still want you to be able to break the game—and you can certainly still do it—but Stendhal was making it a bit too effortless.
You’ve got one more day to experience it in its current state and set remarkable records. This adjustment will be included in our first comprehensive hotfix, going live tomorrow. The patch will launch on Steam first, with other platforms to follow.
Post-change, it will remain a robust single-hit skill with excellent synergy potential… just better aligned with everything else.”
As highlighted in the quote above, this first patch for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is set to go live on Steam tomorrow, May 9th, where we expect to discover the complete details of this initial hotfix. The update is anticipated to follow on additional platforms, including Xbox and Game Pass.
Speaking of platforms for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, it was recently noted that Xbox has recorded the highest player count so far, primarily due to the game’s immediate inclusion in Microsoft’s Game Pass service.
