Update: Launch date announced for June 2025

Update []: We’ve got a date! It’s been revealed that the GEX Trilogy will debut on June 16th, 2025 for Xbox Series X and S, with physical edition pre-orders starting May 9th through Limited Run Games.

You can watch the latest trailer for the game(s) above.

“Limited Run Games, a high-quality publisher of physical titles, has confirmed that Gex Trilogy will be available on PC and consoles beginning 16 June 2025. Pre-orders for three physical versions of Gex Trilogy will commence on 9 May, including the Tail Time Edition, which features a 7” Gex figure, a 36” inflatable Gex toy, and other premium collectibles!”

“Gex Trilogy introduces a variety of enhancements to the channel-surfing Gecko’s adventures, incorporating Rewind and Save Anywhere functionalities across all titles included. Furthermore, Gex: Enter the Gecko and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko will support native 16:9 widescreen and have been revamped with full 360-degree analogue controls, a significant upgrade from the original 8-directional movement. Gex has always been a smooth reptile, but now he controls with even greater finesse, slicker than a slippery salamander.”

Original Story: 3D platformers once led the gaming scene, and while we’ve seen brief revivals like PlayStation’s Astro Bot last year, numerous other icons have faded from memory. Occasionally, there are comebacks, and it appears the anthropomorphic gecko Gex will be returning later this year in the GEX Trilogy.

Limited Run Games had previously revealed its plans to revive the Crystal Dynamics franchise, and now, with a fresh update, it’s confirmed a Summer 2025 release window across all platforms, including Xbox Series X|S. This compilation utilizes the Carbon Engine and features the classic 2D platformer GEX along with the two 3D sequels GEX: Enter the Gecko and GEX 3: Deep Cover Gecko.

“Things are about to get odder than the 4th of July at Rick James’ pad! Everyone’s beloved tail-whipping, channel-surfing gecko returns in a collection showcasing all of his top-selling adventures! This collection, powered by the Carbon Engine, includes bonuses and several upgrades to bring GEX back into the spotlight!”

This particular release will also enable “rewind and save anywhere” functionality and will boast various other “bonuses and enhancements” such as native widescreen support. Would you be keen to revisit GEX’s platforming past on Xbox? Share your thoughts in the comments.
