Microsoft Achieves Significant Triumph on Sony’s Platform

Forza Horizon 5 and PS5 have always seemed like a perfect combination – particularly given that PlayStation currently lacks many arcade racing games, and enjoys a substantial dedicated audience in Europe, where this genre typically thrives.
It’s not particularly shocking to observe Alinea Analytics estimating sales close to 1.2 million copies as of May 5th, correlating to approximately one week of sales. The game officially debuted on April 29th for Sony’s console, but it also benefited from a premium early access period.
What’s truly remarkable about these figures is that Microsoft is selling Forza Horizon 5 at full price to PS5 users, even though it is nearly four years old at this stage. This demonstrates the strong demand for the title and the effectiveness of Redmond’s cross-platform release strategy; the company has been leading PlayStation’s sales charts.
Alinea Analytics has previously examined sales data for Microsoft’s other ports on PS5 and found that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is actually performing better on PlayStation than on Xbox – although, of course, Game Pass influences the performance of the latter platform.
As per the data firm, Sea of Thieves took nearly a year to reach approximately 1.8 million sales, whereas Forza Horizon 5 is nearly reaching that milestone in under a month.
Naturally, we wish to clarify that we still do not fully understand how Alinea Analytics’ methodology actually operates. While it claims to provide accurate and trustworthy results, until we ascertain how these figures are computed, it might be best not to regard them as definitive just yet.
