By Plus or minus?
May 2025’s PS Plus Essential games have been officially revealed, and as always, we want to know what you think of the PS5 and PS4 titles that are up for grabs.
It may not be the headline act according to Sony’s marketing materials, but Balatro is the game that demands attention this time around. The insanely addictive indie gem is a must-play, even if you don’t know a thing about card games.
Balatro is flanked by long-lasting survival title Ark: Survival Ascended and solid retro shooter Warhammer 40K: Boltgun.
Truth be told, there’s not much to say about Ark at this point. You’re likely either familiar with its dinosaur-infested world or you’ve never cared enough to check it out. Still, we suppose it’s a meaty addition to PS Plus, given how much has been added to the game over the years.
Meanwhile, Boltgun is an undeniably fun blast-’em-up that does a great job of translating Warhammer 40K’s tone to DOOM-like pixels. Worth a shot, if you’ll pardon the pun.
