The Black Series 212th Clone Trooper helmet is testing my willpower

I feel somewhat personally targeted by this latest Star Wars helmet replica, and I’d like to voice my discontent.

Last month, I was fortunate enough to tour Disney headquarters, where I got an early look at various merchandise for May 4. Many items caught my eye (like the RC Mouse Droid that I’ve become obsessed with), but a particular Star Wars helmet replica sitting quietly in a corner instantly captured my attention. As a devoted Clone Wars enthusiast, especially fond of Obi-Wan’s yellow-tinged 212th squad, the Black Series 212th Clone Trooper Helmet replica seems intentionally crafted to challenge my resolve.

Like all Black Series replicas, this one (available directly from Disney Store US and Disney Store UK starting May 4) looks as if it’s been taken straight from a movie. Along with its authentic look and snug fit, the weathering effects are superb. The burns, chips, and overall wear give it a wonderfully authentic appearance. An added advantage is its voice modulator, which allows you to sound more like the clones.

Did I try it on, you wonder? Absolutely. I had to restrain myself from shouting “blast ’em!” in my best Temeura Morrison voice.

Produced by Hasbro Pulse (a branch dedicated to high-quality replicas and collectibles from various pop-culture franchises), it’s the newest addition to an array of alternate color patterns for the standard Clone Trooper Helmet released earlier. This 212th version is notably more affordable than both the Ahsoka model and the one inspired by Anakin’s 501st. While I lack US pricing at the moment, the UK price is £90 compared to the Ahsoka helmet’s £139.99 and the 501st’s £104.99.

Naturally, it wasn’t the only impressive item debuting for May 4. A fresh lightsaber from one of the often-overlooked Jedi looks fantastic, and there will be more reveals on the day itself that I can – and will – enthusiastically discuss.
