Microsoft has unveiled the next significant enhancement for Halo Infinite, introducing one of the most extravagant and wild weapons we’ve encountered in the franchise.

Meet the Mutilator, a formidable melee weapon that combines a double-barrel shotgun with a Gravity Hammer affixed to its end. The firearm can fire a single shell at a time, or players can utilize the alternate fire mode to unleash two rounds simultaneously. Regarding the Gravity Hammer aspect, Microsoft remarked, “If there’s anything left to obliterate, the hammer should conclude the task.” You can witness the new weapon in action in this Halo Infinite video, starting at 46:50. It appears significantly destructive.

Microsoft has developed a specific mode to showcase the Mutilator, named Mutilator Madness. This mode is a twist on the Juggernaut setting, pitting a team of players against one exceptionally powerful competitor.

Moreover, the Mutilator will be integrated into the standard Halo Infinite maps as a power weapon. Gamers can also utilize this weapon in custom matches and in Forge mode.

The Mutilator is set to be introduced in Halo Infinite on May 6 as a part of the upcoming Operation: Last Stand update. This update also features a 20-tier free Operation Pass that allows players to earn a range of new cosmetics, while a paid 50-tier Premium Operation Pass will provide even more content.

The Weapons Bench is also receiving an upgrade, enabling players to apply weapon coatings, emblems, charms, and death effects to several weapons. Additionally, the Last Stand update reintroduces bouncing projectiles, allowing shots from the S7 sniper rifle and Flexfire sniper rifle to ricochet off solid surfaces, increasing battlefield danger.

Furthermore, the Last Stand update has toned down the Banshee vehicle by extending the cooldown period for its fuel rod cannon and reducing the speed of its projectiles. “We hope these adjustments will facilitate a more balanced experience for all players. Ramming speed remains the same,” Microsoft stated.

Apart from ongoing improvements for Halo Infinite, Microsoft is working on new Halo games utilizing Unreal Engine 5. Although it’s still early in development, no new Halo titles have been officially announced yet.
