Oblivion Remastered is currently trending, and it’s not without justification. It introduces one of the most cherished open-world RPGs to a fresh audience with stunning visual enhancements, significant quality-of-life upgrades, and the charming quirks from the original title—all for a reasonable price of $50. What’s there to dislike?
From the viewpoint of the Skyblivion team, who have been recreating Oblivion within Skyrim since 2012, one might assume there would be plenty to grumble about. However, from the beginning, the Skyblivion developers have not only stayed committed to their project, but have also been openly and enthusiastically supportive of the official remaster. Likewise, Bethesda has shown considerable appreciation for the modders, providing the entire team with keys to Oblivion Remastered and confirming they have no plans to terminate the project.
This mutual respect is heartening to observe during a challenging period for the gaming industry, and I’m here to highlight yet another instance of this reciprocal admiration.
In a recent Developer Spotlight from Bethesda Game Studios featuring development lead Dan Lee, Skyblivion is once more acknowledged. “Even though I contributed to Oblivion: Remastered, I’m still thrilled for Skyblivion,” Lee states.
“I believe what they are doing is truly unique, and I look forward to seeing their take on our earlier work; it’s an excellent time for Oblivion enthusiasts.”
