Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier has disclosed that the story-centric post-credits scene for the upcoming Marvel film was recorded merely a month ago – seemingly on the set of Avengers: Doomsday.
Warning: Spoilers for the Thunderbolts conclusion and Thunderbolts post-credits segment follow.
“The details regarding how that end credit scene came into existence, they were finalized quite late,” Schreier informed ComicBook about an end-credits scene featuring the New Avengers receiving a satellite image of the Fantastic Four vessel. “That only got filmed perhaps … Is it even a month ago by this time? [Marvel is] skilled at this over there.”
Schreier also confirmed that he did not direct the scene himself but was “present when it was filmed.” It’s not unusual for directors not to handle the post-credits scenes for their Marvel features.
The filmmaker continued, “I can mention that it originates from the set of a production that may be beginning production very soon, so that could be exciting for audiences to linger and observe.”
As you might be aware, Avengers: Doomsday has recently commenced filming – which almost certainly narrows down the possibilities to just one project.
Thunderbolts star Florence Pugh may have inadvertently revealed that the post-credits scene was filmed on the Avengers: Doomsday set ahead of time, but we just did not recognize it.
During the Thunderbolts press conference last month, Pugh inquired whether Avengers: Doomsday had already begun shooting before Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced its ‘official’ filming date.
“That was a pre-production day that you participated in,” Feige told Pugh.
Thunderbolts is currently in theaters. For further details, check out the forthcoming Marvel films coming your way as part of Marvel Phase 6.
