After concerns arose among fans that the TV series Geek Girl could be the next casualty of Netflix’s cancellations, the show appears to have been rescued, moving forward with a second season.

Nearly one year following the debut of season 1, Netflix has officially renewed Geek Girl for its second season, announcing through Tudum that “the second season is set to begin filming in Summer 2025 and is expected to premiere in 2026.”

Geek Girl debuted in 2024, featuring Emily Carey, recognized for her role as the young Alicent Hightower in HBO’s House of the Dragon. The series narrates the story of the socially awkward Harriet Manners, whose life is drastically altered when a London modeling agent takes notice of her. Yet, Harriet’s path to self-discovery does not unfold seamlessly as she approaches the runway.

The show quickly became a sensational success among viewers, achieving an impressive 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Nevertheless, due to Netflix’s silence on its future, many fans feared it might be on the verge of cancellation until recent news surfaced.

While a description for season 2 has not yet been provided, the streaming service has confirmed that Carey will reprise her role as Harriet, joined by co-star Liam Woodrum as her love interest, Nick Park. The series is based on the popular young adult novels by Holly Smale, and with five titles in the series, it is likely that season 2 will pivot towards the second installment, titled Model Misfit.

Showrunner Zoë Rocha is also set to return for the new season. “The fantastic audience response to Season 1 was truly amazing, and we’re eager to bring this next chapter to fruition,” Rocha remarked to Netflix. “I’m excited to collaborate once more with Holly [Smale] and Emily [Carey] to further develop the exceptional Geek Girl universe.”

Geek Girl season 2 is anticipated to arrive on Netflix sometime in 2026. For additional information, explore our compilation of the finest Netflix shows, or stay updated on upcoming TV shows.
