The initial update arrives in May

Ubisoft has unveiled plans for Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ post-launch updates, detailing a schedule for forthcoming content.

There’s indeed a significant amount to digest. Initially, there are some substantial updates in progress, aimed at introducing more narrative-driven content and features requested by fans to the game.

At the beginning of May, players can expect a new story mission featuring Portuguese priest Luis Frois, along with a patch that pledges updates to the game’s codex and various quality-of-life enhancements. Further information regarding this particular update will be shared shortly.

Later in May, the game will see its inaugural ‘Special Collaboration’ — which we speculate could be a crossover event. We lack specific details at this time, but we are half-expecting something quite exciting.

This update will also enhance photo mode capabilities and introduce a substantial ‘parkour update’, which incorporates back and side ejects. This should make Naoe’s agility notably smoother.

The second story addition is slated for June, alongside new difficulty settings, ‘gameplay immersion’ options, an ‘open world alarm system’, and the ability to toggle headgear during cutscenes. Phew.

Additionally, there’s a wealth of content planned for the future. Items mentioned include New Game+, updates based on community feedback, more narrative content, additional collaborations, new Animus features, and plenty more.

Assassin's Creed Shadows Roadmap

Meanwhile, the game’s first expansion, Claws of Awaji, is mentioned within the roadmap, though no release timeframe has been provided. Ubisoft has confirmed that the DLC will occur after the main campaign of Shadows, introducing a new weapon type for Naoe: the bo staff.

There’s plenty to anticipate, then. It always seemed that Ubisoft would invest significantly in support for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and this roadmap certainly confirms that direction.
