On April 29th, two enigmatic video billboards emerged in Times Square, New York City. One billboard displayed a countdown timer for 60 minutes alongside a phone number (315-669-8263) with the phrase, “TEXT FOR MAGIC.” The second billboard featured a continuous flow of falling money.
As reported by Far Out Magazine and various tweets from fans, those who texted the displayed number received $119.16 through Venmo with the note: “Voila” and a magic wand emoji. If you send a text now that the countdown has concluded, it will ask you to subscribe to a text message list that offers ongoing updates regarding the forthcoming threequel.
Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, helmed by Ruben Fleischer, is the third entry in the magician-heist series, with the inaugural film debuting in 2016 and becoming an unexpected box-office success, earning $351 million against a budget of $75 million. Now You See Me 2 also premiered in 2016. The ensemble cast includes Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Morgan Freeman, Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, Ariana Greenblatt, and Rosamund Pike.
