“The Elite Series 3 is a reality”
It appears that Xbox is concentrating on the upcoming version of its controllers this year. According to Jez Corden from Windows Central on the Xbox Two podcast, there are three controller prototypes in development.
Initially, Corden claims that the Xbox Elite Controller Series 3 genuinely exists at Microsoft. Fans have awaited a sequel to the Series 2 for years, and it is reportedly under development with a codename known only to Corden.
“We are indeed getting some sort of Elite Series 3. I’m uncertain if it will be revealed in June, but perhaps it will debut next year, possibly coinciding with the next-gen Xbox—time will tell.”
He then discusses a so-called “mid-tier” controller with the codename Sebile that leaked a few years back, along with a more basic Xbox controller intended to potentially replace the existing Xbox Series X|S controller.
Notably, one feature he mentions (echoed in the Sebile leak) is termed Direct-To-Cloud, which enables your controller to “connect straight to your router via Wi-Fi, minimizing the delay associated with Bluetooth, and avoiding any lag toward your TV.” However, he notes that the most economical version of the Xbox controller may not include advanced features like this.
At this stage, details about these three Xbox controllers remain scarce, and Corden emphasizes that you should approach the information with a “grain of salt” until he offers a more definitive report on Windows Central.
“This is something discussed on a podcast, but it’s not yet developed enough for an official report because my information is limited, so take it lightly for now.”
