Oblivion Remastered PS5 Update

Late last week, a new patch for Oblivion Remastered was released for Xbox and PC — however, there is still no indication of this update for PS5.

Curiously, Bethesda did not provide any patch notes for this release, leading many players to spend the weekend analyzing what changes have occurred.

This update appears to focus on enhancing the game’s technical functionality. Xbox players have reported an improvement in frame rates, while PC users have, unexpectedly, lost certain graphics settings, which generally has led to deteriorated performance and new graphical glitches.

However, it’s important to note that the Xbox edition is still not flawless — as highlighted by Digital Foundry. Similar to the PS5 version, the open-world RPG struggles to maintain a stable 60 frames per second, particularly when exploring the vast landscapes of Cyrodiil.

While the recent update does provide some improvements — Digital Foundry indicates a potential frame rate rise of up to 16 frames — there is still significant progress to be made.

One might expect that the same update would yield beneficial results for the PS5 version of Oblivion Remastered, yet we have yet to see any signs of it on Sony’s platform.

It could be that it’s entangled in PlayStation’s update approval process, or perhaps it’s simply not yet ready. We will, of course, keep you informed about the patch when it becomes available on PS5.
