2025’s Two Best-Reviewed Games Are Both Xbox Game Pass Titles

The top 10 list has changed dramatically this month

In my opinion piece here at Pure Xbox yesterday, I talked about how Xbox Game Pass is on a ridiculous hot streak right now, with all sorts of incredible titles launching “day one” into the service over the past few weeks alone.

Don’t just take my word for it though! Looking at the top 10 highest-rated video games of 2025 on Metacritic, the top two are both Xbox Game Pass titles in the form of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Blue Prince.

Here’s the latest top 10 on Metacritic that isn’t based on any specific platform:

  1. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (92)
  2. Blue Prince (92)
  3. Split Fiction (91)
  4. The Talos Principle: Reawakened (90)
  5. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (89)
  6. Monster Hunter Wilds (88)
  7. Bionic Bay (87)
  8. The Roottrees Are Dead (87)
  9. Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders (87)
  10. Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition (86)

Now admittedly, things do change a little bit when you sort by Xbox alone – Split Fiction suddenly jumps into second place, and games like Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth start appearing in the top 10 as well – but the fact remains that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Blue Prince remain two extremely high-rated titles.

We’re also still waiting to see how Oblivion Remastered fares when it gets enough reviews on the platform.

When we were looking at the list of upcoming 2025 Xbox releases earlier this year, we definitely didn’t anticipate that these two Xbox Game Pass titles would be leading the pack by April, but it’s fantastic to see! There’s still so much more to come and they’ll face stiff competition along the way, but they’re undoubtedly Game of the Year contenders.

Are you enjoying these two Game Pass titles? Let us know down in the comments section below.
