Which video game would you like to see adapted into an anime series? This was the intriguing question posed on social media by our affiliated site PC Gamer, capturing the interest of Samuel Deats, the director who helmed 32 episodes of Netflix’s Castlevania anime from 2017 to 2021, in addition to 8 episodes of the related Castlevania: Nocturne. Both productions are inspired by the iconic video game series that originated in 1986.

Deats took the inquiry a step further, prompting his followers to share which video game they would wish for his team to animate – with the understanding that this is all in a lighthearted spirit.

“What game would you love to see my team bring to life someday?” deems Deats as he responds to PC Gamer’s prompt, “A video game of your choosing is now getting an anime adaptation? Which one is it?”

Unsurprisingly, several standout choices emerged among Deats’ audience, including the much-coveted Bloodborne. This particular title shares thematic elements with Castlevania’s vampire-driven monster-hunting narrative.

Many fans also voiced their desire for Berserk, a series that has previously been adapted into anime and has seen numerous video game adaptations. Another frequently mentioned title was Metroid, with a follower suggesting this beloved Nintendo series would be the next logical choice for Deats “just to claim authority over the MetroidVania genre.”

There were also some amusing and distinct suggestions like “any Final Fantasy,” Mass Effect, and “something inspired by Elden Ring.” Personally, my favorite picks are Altered Beast and Darkstalkers, known in Japan as Vampire and Vampire Savior.

Will any of these ideas materialize? Who can say. It remains an exciting thought experiment, especially when we consider Deats’ unique direction style.
