Popular Anime Solo Leveling Getting A Limited Edition Blu-Ray In July

For enthusiasts eager to possess the inaugural set of episodes, Solo Leveling: Season One will see its Blu-ray launch on July 22, and preorders can be made now exclusively at Crunchyroll, featuring a $70 standard edition and a $90 Limited Edition available for purchase.

Solo Leveling is an action-fantasy anime based on the Korean manhwa series and light novel of the same title. It unfolds in a fictional realm akin to our world, where inter-dimensional beasts invade Earth through enigmatic portals leading to perilous dungeons, stopped only by super-human beings known as Hunters. Hunters are classified into ranks, ranging from the lowest E-class to the top-tier S-class fighters with formidable abilities. The twist is that a class is fixed, meaning if one manifests as an E-class, they must remain at that status for their lifetime.

Regrettably for the main character, Sung Jinwoo, he’s an E-class dubbed “the weakest Hunter.” However, following a narrow escape from an S-class confrontation, Jinwoo acquires a unique ability that enables him to progressively level up and increase his strength, a feat no other Hunter can achieve.

If you’re interested in exploring some of the source material, you can find collected English editions of the webtoon manhwa (Korean comic) illustrated by Jang Sung-rak, along with the original light novels authored by Chugong.

The format might be somewhat unconventional due to its webtoon roots—certain panels adjusted to fit the traditional print format—but the paperback editions effectively showcase the series’ stunning art in tangible form. The manhwa adaptation concluded in 2021 and is being gradually translated and compiled into English volumes. Ten English volumes have been released thus far, available on Amazon, with Volumes 11 and 12 available for preorder, due on April 23 and May 27, respectively.
