And it includes a substantial amount of material

Consistent with recent Xbox first-party launches, next month’s DOOM: The Dark Ages can be accessed early through a ‘Premium Upgrade’ DLC package – and this extension actually provides significantly more than just early playtime.

Indeed, the premium upgrade for DOOM: The Dark Ages offers two days of early availability, the ‘Divinity’ skin set, a digital artbook & soundtrack, in addition to a substantial campaign DLC. This format resembles recent Bethesda releases like Starfield and Indiana Jones – and the pricing aligns with these titles as well.

Begin your demon-slaying journey with the Premium Upgrade, featuring up to 2-Day Early Access, the campaign DLC, Digital Artbook and Soundtrack, along with the Divinity Skin Pack, which provides coordinated skins for the DOOM Slayer, dragon, and Atlan.

The cost is £31.49 / $31.49 for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, and since the base game will be available on day one, there’s no need to spend additional money on it – as long as you stay subscribed post-launch to continue playing. Alternatively, there’s a pricier Premium Edition that includes everything from the Upgrade version plus the base game as well.

If you decide to purchase this DLC, the new DOOM will be accessible on May 13th, earlier than the Standard Edition’s release on May 15th.

Regarding the campaign DLC, Bethesda hasn’t shared any details yet – however, the team at id Software excelled with their story expansions for DOOM Eternal. The two-part Ancient Gods DLC was an excellent addition to the original game in 2021.
