Bungie is venturing into the extraction shooter realm with Marathon, a PvPvE reinterpretation of its beloved sci-fi franchise from the 1990s.

It was thrilling to finally witness the game in motion during the recent presentation, but truth be told, we feel Bungie did not adequately articulate the deeper complexities of this forthcoming shooter.

Although we didn’t get to engage with the game at the recent previews, we’ve been combing through various articles and videos from those who did, and it was at that moment we truly began to feel enthusiasm for Bungie’s new journey.

Marathon

Be it the runner abilities and their unexpected departure from typical hero-shooter tropes, or the mechanics of loot acquisition and its connection to overall game progression, we’ve condensed all essential information about Marathon into a comprehensive yet concise video available on our YouTube channel.

While there’s a lot more we are eager to discover about Marathon, we are anxious to try it ourselves. Yes, it’s a daring frontier, and Sony is likely still feeling the repercussions of Concord.

Marathon

We are aware that there are impressive extraction shooters available on PS5, like Hunt: Showdown 1896, but this genre has yet to gain traction on consoles as significantly as Escape from Tarkov has on PC.

It’s quite a niche genre, we must admit, but if anyone has the potential to create an engaging and intricate extraction shooter experience, it’s Bungie. Based on everything we’ve gathered about Marathon, it certainly seems to have a strong foundation. Take a look at the video and share if it shifts your perspective.

Will you be purchasing it upon its release on September 23rd, 2025? Or is the yet-to-be-revealed price a significant hurdle for you? Share your thoughts and stash them in the comments section below.
