If you’ve explored public quests in Monster Hunter Wilds, especially on PC, you may have encountered a quest that appeared unusually bountiful with its rewards. Instead of the standard 6 to 15 rare items, that quest might have been offering several hundred.

Cheaters have established themselves within Monster Hunter Wilds, making altered quests relatively easy to stumble upon. Following title update 1, an exhilarating experience, Capcom is intensifying its efforts against these ill-gotten treasures and various exploits, urging players to steer clear of hackers altogether to avoid compromising their gaming experience.

Through a series of messages on Twitter, Capcom takes aim at cheaters, from players completing ranked arena quests in mere seconds to those creating custom quests yielding outrageous loot.

“We have identified the unauthorized alteration of game data in Monster Hunter Wilds for High Rank environment Investigations, Field Surveys, and more,” one tweet states. To underscore this issue, Capcom even published a graph illustrating what normal quest rewards entail, ranging from Artian materials to Zenny payouts.

“Modified data can disrupt typical gameplay and potentially make the game unplayable. If you suspect a quest has been altered, please refrain from participating in it or cease playing it immediately.”

“We aim to introduce further counteract measures in upcoming updates to identify users who have engaged in unauthorized data modifications to shield other players from being affected,” Capcom concludes.

Additionally, Capcom confirms intentions to eliminate blatant cheaters from Monster Hunter Wilds’ inaugural challenge quest tournament. The results will only be made public once hackers have been removed. (In turn, it’s also moving away from rank-specific rewards to create a less strenuous challenge while still recognizing the top hunters.)

Weekly updates, stories from beloved communities, and more

“If you are certain that a player is engaging in forbidden actions, please report them,” Capcom suggests.

Some exploits are less detrimental than others, with certain players employing a glitched emote to slide around maps indefinitely or occasionally teleport monsters to different locations (thanks to Automaton), but Capcom seems to be adopting a no-tolerance stance against hackers. Personally, I’ve primarily stayed in squad and solo lobbies, except for the occasional Zoh Shia run (why does this thing take so long to spawn, Capcom?), but SOS players might need to remain vigilant. If you’re not gaming alongside hackers, you should have nothing to fear.

Monster Hunter Wilds has an impending hotfix, potentially beneficial for anyone whose hunter happens to be bald and lack eyebrows.
