After countless, countless years of anticipation, we finally have some new updates on Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Samus’ next eagerly-awaited journey is slated for release on both Switch and Switch 2 this year, with the latter featuring enhanced graphics and the new Mouse Mode for superior aiming accuracy.

During the recent hands-on experience in London showcasing the Switch 2, we were eager to evaluate this innovative control system, specifically determining how effortless it is to shift from traditional analogue stick controls to Mouse Mode. After testing an early portion of Metroid Prime 4, we are delighted to share that transitioning between the two styles is remarkably smooth.

As highlighted in the upcoming post from the Nintendo Life TikTok, toggling between the two control styles on Switch 2 is as straightforward as setting down or picking up the right Joy-Con. The game automatically adjusts your aiming preference on the fly, allowing you to explore Viewros with one method, and then effortlessly switch to another for combat situations. Awesome!

Of course, this control switching will not be featured on the original ‘Switch 1’ version of the game, but gamers using the previous hardware will still enjoy the complete experience otherwise.

In our hands-on review of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, we referred to Samus’s forthcoming adventure as “a remarkably impressive title on Switch 2,” which genuinely “validates Nintendo’s more robust successor.” We are truly excited to dive deeper into the game later this year.
