Doctor Doom stands as the Sorcerer Supreme and sovereign of Earth in Marvel’s ongoing One World Under Doom narrative, and he has even formed his own squad of Avengers – the Superior Avengers. We have an early glimpse at pages from Superior Avengers #2.
In Superior Avengers #2, the ensemble, which includes Doom’s adopted son Kristoff Vernard, Onslaught, Malekith, Doctor Octopus, Ghost, Killmonger, and Abomination – mostly alternate reality incarnations of these characters from timelines where Doom remains the Earth’s sovereign – confronts the Fantastic Four adversary Diablo, who wields the powers of magical alchemy.
Presented here are the pages crafted by writer Steve Foxe, alongside artists Luca Maresca and Kyle Hotz (responsible for the flashback segments), colorist Mattia Iacono, and letterer Cory Petit:
“DOOM’S MIGHTIEST HEROES! The SUPERIOR Avengers have made an impressive entrance, but what occurs when they must track down one of the Fantastic Four’s most malevolent enemies: DIABLO?! What schemes does DOOM have in mind for this team? And from where precisely did these champions originate?”
While Doom undoubtedly possesses loyalists among the nefarious figures of the Marvel Universe, rather astonishingly, he has a few supporters among the heroes as well. However, the Avengers and Fantastic Four are actively resisting the reign of the Latverian tyrant.
Doom is poised to play a significant role in the MCU, with Robert Downey Jr. stepping into the character’s shoes for films such as Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, although he will apparently not feature in this summer’s Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Superior Avengers #2 is set to hit the shelves on May 21.
