Xbox announces June showcase event, reveals game getting this year’s big spotlight
By Microsoft has confirmed the date and time for its yearly June announcement celebration, the Xbox Games Showcase, and has indicated that The Outer Worlds 2 may receive a thorough examination immediately afterwards.
The Xbox Games Showcase 2025 is set to broadcast on Sunday, June 8th at 6 PM UK time – which translates to 1 PM Eastern or 10 AM Pacific if you reside across the Atlantic.
Upon conclusion, Microsoft will swiftly transition into The Outer Worlds 2 Update, an extended look at Obsidian’s forthcoming sci-fi role-playing game sequel. In previous years, this segment has featured reveals for Starfield (in 2023) and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (in 2024).
While undeniably an important title in Microsoft’s portfolio, The Outer Worlds 2 may not exude the same excitement as those aforementioned games. Perhaps this slot was originally intended for Fable, before its postponement to 2026?
Microsoft is the first among the major three console manufacturers to outline its event agenda for June, during the week that was once reserved for E3.
Summer Game Fest, the online livestream hosted by The Game Awards’ Geoff Keighley, will take place a few days earlier, on Friday, June 6th.
Switch 2, for those who may have missed it, is scheduled for release on Thursday, June 5th. Is another Nintendo Direct planned around that time as well?
