
Michael Sarnoski reportedly attached to direct Death Stranding movie
Sarnoski is renowned for directing A Aloof Position: Day One and Pig; he is currently working on The Demise of Robin Hood.
The director of A Aloof Position: Day One, Michael Sarnoski, is reportedly attached to direct the film adaptation of Death Stranding.
According to Deadline, Sarnoski may also pen the screenplay. Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen’s Sq. Peg Motion pictures are expected to join the project as producers.
The film adaptation of Death Stranding was announced in 2023, marking a collaboration between the game developer Kojima Productions and film distributor A24.
“Their influence is unique in the industry; they are unlike any other,” studio founder Hideo Kojima remarked. “The films they are bringing to audiences are high-quality and exceptionally creative.”
“I have always been drawn to their projects, which have inspired my own creations. Their inventive approach to storytelling aligns perfectly with what Kojima Productions has been pursuing for eight years. Now, we are collaborating on a Death Stranding movie.”
In a conversation with Variety last year, Kojima stated he would not be directing the film but would oversee the project.
“I will assist by collaborating with a director I fully trust,” he mentioned. “Several projects adapting Death Stranding are currently in progress, but I have another story I’ve crafted that’s meant for a film. However, I lack the time to direct it.”
