Path of Exile 2 fixes incoming following criticism of Dawn of the Hunt update’s slow pace
Path of Exile 2 developer Grinding Gear Video games has taken note of feedback regarding its Dawn of the Hunt update from players frustrated with the game’s slowed pace.
The update, 0.2.0, launched last week, introducing a variety of fresh content and a new playable character class, the Huntress. Simultaneously, the developer adjusted several skills and implemented various modifications aimed at enhancing endgame performance, many of which inadvertently affected the main storyline.
Now, Grinding Gear Video games has published a post outlining new and gradual changes meant to appease fans as the game remains in early access.
“Many players have reported that the game feels too sluggish,” the developer stated. “This often manifests as feedback about monster durability being excessive, player damage being inadequate, or areas taking too long to navigate. In this post, we will discuss some steps we’ve already taken, as well as additional adjustments we plan to implement.”
Having reduced the strength and life of minions, these aspects will now be restored to levels aligned with those prior to the update, while still maintaining the new scaling for endgame content.
Moreover, monster health has already been reduced by 25 percent to address concerns over clearing speed.
The developer is also examining the scale of environments, with players criticizing their overall size. “Many players have indicated that areas seem overly expansive,” the developer noted. “Typically when this occurs, it’s due to other issues such as incorrect monster health or player damage ratios, or a lack of engaging content in the area. Nonetheless, we are investigating to identify any outliers where players are spending excessive time to determine if adjustments to area sizes are necessary.”
Additionally, the developer is making revisions to its new Huntress class, following feedback that the class’s strength is overly reliant on the parry mechanic. Therefore, a new skill will be introduced to generate Frenzy charges without needing to parry, although this will be meticulously balanced to still favor players utilizing the mechanic.
Furthermore, the overall feel of the parry itself will be enhanced, and spear throws will be empowered to encourage players to alternate more between ranged and melee combat styles.
Server-side crashes have reportedly increased approximately sixfold in this update, but the developer emphasized that these issues are “significantly easier for us to troubleshoot,” and they should be resolved soon.
Lastly, quality of life enhancements are in the works, including features like bookmarking locations on the map, and alongside stash tab improvements.
