Switch 2 lets you easily move your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island
Nintendo has announced that players of Animal Crossing: Restful Horizon will likely have the ability to transfer their island designs from the original Switch to the new Switch 2 without needing to download an additional app or utilize cloud storage.
This useful information was shared by Nintendo Switch 2 director Takuhiro Dohta.
“When you execute the system transfer, all data including save files will be retained on the Nintendo Switch and once it transitions to the Nintendo Switch 2 as well,” Dohta informed Polygon, before adding:
“However, the [Animal Crossing] island will be an actual migration. So it will leave Nintendo Switch and transfer over to Nintendo Switch 2.”
In the meantime, for players wishing to shift their island to a different Switch console, they have two options. The first is to use the Island Transfer Tool, a Nintendo Switch application designed to facilitate the transfer of complete Restful Horizons’ design files or individual player accounts from the game.
The second method involves Nintendo’s cloud backup and island recovery feature, which allows players to upload their island and design data to the cloud.
Thus, while both current Switch methods are fully operational, it seems that transferring an island to Switch 2 is going to be much more straightforward.
In other Nintendo news, earlier this week the company confirmed that Switch 2 game cartridges will taste so horrible you will want to spit them out and that eShop music may not be making a return for the new console.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on Thursday, June 5th, with a retail price of £395.99 for the console, or £429.99
