All Butterfly Collector Locations In Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Are you keen to catch all targets for The Butterfly Collector in Assassin’s Creed Shadows? These individuals were abducting children in the city of Osaka. However, before you can locate them, you’ll need to first discover a few items. Only then will their hiding places become known.

How to catch all targets for The Butterfly Collector in Assassin’s Creed Shadows – The Butterfly Collector quest details

The Butterfly Collector is indeed a side mission, but it’s significantly more extensive than most other optional tasks in the game. Here’s a quick overview:

• You can commence the quest by conversing with an NPC named the Gamemaker. She is located in Katano within the Izumi Settsu region. She’s situated right beside the decoration vendor, who is positioned between Katano Fortress and Katano Oil Trading.
• The Gamemaker requests you to collect several origami items for her. We discuss these further in our Origami Butterflies guide.
• There are 10 Origami Butterflies, most of which are in fact letters addressed to the other kidnappers. After you gather clues, we suggest acquiring all 10 items first before searching for your targets.

The map above displays the locations of the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Butterfly Collector targets. As you can see, there are four targets, each with its own mini-quest chains that take you to different areas in Osaka:

• Mucho: Initiates with Salvage the Child
• Shucho: Initiates with The One That Got Away
• Richo: Initiates with All Will Be Well
• Kacho: Concludes in Paper Trail and Chrysalis – You must eliminate the first three targets before the quest to catch Kacho becomes available.

Mucho is the easiest target among all the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Butterfly Collector targets. Simply head to Kojo Ruins, west of the Temple of Osaka. You should also spot a woman (Mucho) next to a small boy. As you approach, Mucho will run away. You can either incapacitate her if she hasn’t noticed you yet, or you can take her down in combat. Watch out for nearby guards.

After you’ve dealt with Mucho, talk to the boy. Set the button to auto-follow so you can accompany the child to his father.

This particular target, Richo, requires a bit of exploration:

• All Will Be Well – Travel north of the equipment vendor/kakurega until you reach a yard with a broken well. Wait a moment until you overhear two workers discussing a bamboo grove.
• Wooded area Fugitive – Make your way to the bamboo grove north of Noda Village. As you approach the cabin, Naoe will mention how that is often the place someone would conceal a kidnapped child.

Dispose of Richo as you see fit. Then, escort the girl until she reunites with her mother near the city outskirts.

Now that you’ve potentially dealt with the first three Butterfly Collector targets in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it’s time to confront their leader, Kacho. There are a few tasks you’ll need to complete first:

• Paper Trail – Wander to the Temple of Osaka and look for a large tree along the narrow path to the north. Press the aim button to reveal the blue outline indicating the paper product owner’s location.
• Chrysalis – Head over to the Fishermen’s District, not too far away. A small hut in the yard has a notice that you can read.

Once both mini-quests are finished, you’ll discover that Kacho is in Nishinomaru Garden, which is just west of Osaka Fortress. This is a restricted area, so try to stay clear of the guards as much as possible. Upon reaching Kacho, a cutscene will begin, and you’ll have to fight her afterward.
