Passe EA exec Adolf Kristjansson appointed Starbreeze CEO
Adolf Kristjansson has been named the new CEO of Starbreeze. He will officially take on this role starting April 1.
Kristjansson takes over from the current interim CEO, Mats Juhl, who returns to his role as CFO.
With over twenty years of experience in the gaming industry, Kristjansson has been involved in projects such as FIFA, Battlefield, Apex Legends, and Star Wars, and has held various senior positions at EA, including global commercial senior director and global head of digital.
“I am joining Starbreeze with great excitement for the company’s current and future projects, especially the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons title. I am eager to continue advancing the Payday franchise and transforming Starbreeze into a true multi-title studio,” Kristjansson expressed.
“Most importantly, I look forward to collaborating closely with our talented teams and engaging with our passionate player community as we embark on the next chapter of Starbreeze together.”
“On behalf of the board, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Adolf as he joins Starbreeze, and I look forward to a long and productive partnership. I also want to take this opportunity to thank Mats Juhl for his significant contributions during his time as interim CEO,” stated chairperson Jürgen Goeldner.
Starbreeze had previously confirmed in May that CFO Mats Juhl was appointed as interim CEO.
