Eidos Montréal lays off 75 workers
“This does not reflect their commitment or abilities, but unfortunately, we are unable to reassign them,” the company stated.
Eidos Montréal has dismissed 75 employees.
In a LinkedIn update, the company announced that as “one of [its] projects is concluding,” it was necessary to “release up to 75 valued employees,” stating: “This is not a reflection of their commitment or abilities, but regrettably, we do not possess the capacity to fully reassign them to our other ongoing initiatives and services.”
“These exceptionally skilled, highly proficient professionals are poised to join the job market, and we are taking steps to assist them during this transition,” the statement continued.
“Eidos-Montréal remains determined to provide its other projects currently in progress.”
Eidos was acquired by Embracer in 2022, but in a single day of 2023, the gaming company let go of more than 900 individuals. An additional 97 employees were affected in January 2024.
Earlier this week, we reported that Cyan Worlds, the developer of Myst, has also reduced half of its workforce.
