Crystal Dynamics lays off 17 workers
“This action was essential to more effectively align our present business requirements and the studio’s future achievements.”
Crystal Dynamics has revealed its choice to lay off 17 employees to “better align with [its] present business needs.”
In a statement shared on social media, the developer explained that this decision would not affect its “current project goals,” which include the highly anticipated Dark reboot (co-developed with The Initiative) and an unnamed Tomb Raider game.
“We did not arrive at this decision lightly,” the statement noted. “Ultimately, this action was necessary to more effectively align our current business needs with the studio’s future success. It is not a reflection of the commitment or abilities of those impacted.”
“We understand how difficult this outcome is for those affected, and we are providing them with transition programs and assistance in finding new opportunities.”
“Crystal Dynamics continues to be dedicated to pushing the limits of creating exceptional games. This change does not modify our ongoing project plans.”
Team members at Crystal Dynamics previously faced a round of layoffs in September 2023, when ten individuals were let go.
This occurred following a significant restructuring initiative at the developer’s parent company Embracer,
