The March 2025 Nintendo Direct was broadcast just days ahead of the anticipated Switch 2 Direct, which is set to reveal more about the successor to one of the best-selling consoles of all time next week. The surprise Direct was announced a mere 24 hours prior to its airing, marking it as the most significant showcase since the stream in June 2024. AI: The Somnium Files series returns

Continuing with Japanese developers, Spike Chunsoft followed up with the new installment in the detective series AI: The Somnium Files. No Sleep For Kaname Date is the third game in the series, featuring the protagonist from the original game as he searches for a missing J-Pop idol. Delve into people’s dreams to uncover clues as you investigate her disappearance.

Atlus reveals a new remaster

This Direct opened with an abundance of news from Japanese developers. Next, Atlus took the stage, with the creators of Persona announcing a remaster of one of their Devil Summoner games, part of the Megami Tensei franchise. Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army is another RPG that merges investigative elements with demon fighting in a 1900s-style version of Japan. If you have played any of the Persona titles, you might recognize familiar faces in battle like the cheerful demon Jack Frost.

It will be released on June 19, 2025, with pre-orders starting later today.

PAC-MAN Metroidvania launching on Switch

Following that, we have an intriguing reinterpretation of one of gaming’s most legendary franchises – PAC-MAN. Shadow Labyrinth is a Metroidvania-style game that offers a darker take on the adventures of the puck-shaped, ghost-chomping character. In this version, PAC-MAN has been revamped as Puck, who guides a cloaked hero through a maze-like, futuristic realm devastated by wars and populated by menacing creatures you’ll need to battle. It is far darker than typical PAC-MAN fare, yet it still retains the classic ‘waka-waka’ sound effects.

Patapon Remasters Revealed

In a complete shift in pace, remasters of the vibrant rhythm game Patapon have been unveiled for the Switch. These remasters will combine both the original Patapon and its sequel into a single package titled Patapon 1 + 2 Replay. Initially, these games were launched as exclusives for Sony’s first handheld console, the PSP, with the now-defunct Japan Studio among the developers.

Patapon 1 + 2 Replay is set to release on July 11, 2025.

DS Farming Game Receives Legend of Seasons Remake

Great news for fans of cozy farming games, a new installment in the Legend of Seasons series has been announced. Legend of Seasons – Grand Bazaar is a remake of the DS game of the same name. Alternatively, it shares a name with what was previously known as Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar. If that sounds a bit perplexing, it is — Legend of Seasons originated as a spin-off from the Harvest Moon series due to a rights dispute.

What’s important to know is that Legend of Seasons – Grand Bazaar will provide the same enjoyable blend of farming and life-simulation gameplay that players have cherished since the original Harvest Moon games in the 1990s. It will be available on August 27, 2025.
