Rumour: Most up to date Swap 2 Theory Suggests Liberate Date Might per chance maybe maybe Be Factual Around The Nook
As we eagerly anticipate the 2nd of April for the next wave of official Switch 2 updates from Nintendo, some enthusiasts are digging out their cork boards and red strings, attempting to uncover more information regarding the upcoming console’s launch. We believe that news of a release date is likely just around the corner, but until then, this latest theory is quite intriguing (thanks, NME).
The rumor in question was shared on Twitter by content creator ThunderStash Gaming, suggesting that the Switch 2 release date is much nearer than we had expected: 15th May, to be precise.
According to ThunderStash, this theory is grounded in “logic, patterns, and solid community research” rather than insider intel or leaks, and he offers several reasons to explain how he reached his conclusion. So, grab your pinch of salt, everyone, as we dig deeper.
There are a few Nintendo-related events scheduled for 15th May that seem to support this theory. First up is the release of DOOM: The Dark Ages, a title ThunderStash suspects will be a launch title for the Switch 2, based on Nintendo’s previous connections with the series. Next is the recently released Mario Kart LEGO set — a merchandise tie-in with another anticipated launch title in Mario Kart 9 — and the grand opening of the new Nintendo store in San Francisco.
ThunderStash believes that all of the aforementioned events would synergize perfectly with a Switch 2 launch, but he also points out other happenings around that May 15 date to further fuel speculation. This date lands in a brief ‘intermission’ period for the Switch 2 hands-on preview, one week before Memorial Day in the US and just ahead of Aesthetic Nintendo World’s Donkey Kong Country expansion opening its doors. Things start to get a bit coincidental at this point, but the theory suggests that all these coinciding events would provide fans ample time to acquire the console and initiate word-of-mouth promotion. Hmmm.
As elaborated in the tweet above, the theory also builds on last week’s rumor that Nintendo may have already shipped a substantial 383,000 Switch 2 units to North America and that May might currently be a “quiet period” for new releases.
Certainly, we would like to think that the Switch 2 launch could be imminent, however, all of this
