Enthusiasts of cyberpunk manga can snag a 50% discount on the complete mainline series of Battle Angel Alita at Amazon. Originally priced at $180, the Battle Angel Alita Deluxe Edition Series Box Set is now available for just $90 for a limited time. This is an incredible price for the premium series, as you receive nearly 2,400 pages of manga across six hardcover volumes. Created by Yukito Kishiro, Battle Angel Alita remains popular 35 years after its launch in 1990. The manga is widely hailed as a classic within the cyberpunk genre.
The original series of the manga continued until 1995. In this compilation, the entire arc is brought together in five oversized hardcovers. Similar to the Deluxe Editions of Berserk and Trigun, Battle Angel Alita’s hardcover editions enhance the beautiful artwork. This collection also includes several extras. Notably, the sixth hardcover volume contains a series of short stories that were previously only available in Japanese. Alongside the translated short story collection, the box set includes three art cards—two of which feature shiny silver foil accents—multiple interviews with Kishiro, and an alternate conclusion to the original series.
Set in the lawless settlement of Scrapyard, far beneath the enigmatic city of Zalem, this scrapyard is where disgraced cyborg doctor Daisuke Ido encounters the preserved head of a cyborg girl who has lost all her memories. Naming her Alita after she is repaired and outfitted with a powerful body, this warrior embarks on a journey to regain her memories while battling sinister cybernetic foes. Alita is a master of the Panzer Kunst martial arts, and she uses her skills to become a hunter-killer mercenary aiding those in need.

Transforming Battle Angel Alita into film has been a passion project for James Cameron, the director of hits like Terminator 2, True Lies, Titanic, and the Avatar movies. While Cameron spent decades trying to materialize the project, it was Robert Rodriguez who ultimately directed the film adaptation, with Cameron involved as a producer and co-writer. The adaptation debuted in 2019 under the title Alita: Battle Angel. It is truly an impressive adaptation starring Rosa Salazar; it is certainly worth a mention as a companion piece to the beloved manga.
