Roblox originate sources 3D Cube mannequin in first originate of genAI instruments
Starting now, Roblox Corp. is releasing its 3D model Cube as open-source for all developers to “adapt, create plugins, or train it with their own datasets to meet their requirements.”
Cube serves as the company’s core model for its 3D generative AI innovations, and it can potentially “support many of the AI tools we plan to create in the coming years,” according to the announcement. This model produces objects in fully functional 3D, and Roblox Corp. anticipates that its open-source release will “empower researchers, developers, and the wider AI community to explore, enhance, and advance 3D generation across the industry.”
Additional AI tools for Roblox Studio
Roblox Corp. also introduced several AI creation tools to be used alongside Cube. Its Mesh Generation API can be utilized within Roblox Studio (the company’s ecosystem and creation engine) to input text prompts that generate objects for a Roblox experience. The API reduces the number of “time-consuming” steps in mesh generation, allowing developers to “experiment with new ideas without excessive time or resource investment.”
For players, the company asserts that the Mesh API “opens up a new wave of creativity for millions of Roblox users, making gameplay much more personalized and engaging. When users create their own items within experiences, it also leads to increased involvement, which is advantageous for developers as well.”

Meanwhile, the Text Generation API incorporates text-based AI elements such as narration or dialogue commands into experiences, enabling a “prompt-and-response” interaction between players and the open-source LLM powering the suggestions.
Roblox Corp. hinted that future AI tools would include “highly sophisticated scene generation” and ultimately evolve into a “multimodal model, trained on various inputs including text, images, and video,” capable of integrating with its existing AI tools.
