Are we adequately prepared for the upcoming generation?
Remarkably, it has now been six years since the Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 was initially launched, and we have been waiting all this time for a successor that simply never came. So, what truly occurred regarding the Xbox Elite Controller Series 3?
A few years ago, there were speculations suggesting that Microsoft might indeed be working on an Xbox Elite Controller Series 3, but nothing ever came to fruition. In fact, they ended up introducing a more affordable variant of the Elite Series 2 instead, labeling it as the “Core” and stripping away several of its features in the process.
The Core variant was mainly designed to deliver the “essential” features of the controller instead:
We have not heard much at all about an Xbox Elite Controller Series 3 recently, and it is quite possible that Microsoft is focusing on developing the next generation Xbox controller instead – perhaps as part of the upcoming Xbox console.
There is significantly more competition these days as well, with it appearing that nearly every third-party manufacturer is creating a “Pro” version of their controllers – brands like Turtle Beach, PowerA, 8BitDo, and Thrustmaster are all in the mix.
Still, we know some Xbox enthusiasts would definitely love to see a Series 3 Elite Controller, so we hope Microsoft is secretly planning something for the next few years. Would you purchase one? We are eager to hear your thoughts!
