Uthana has obtained $4.3 million to “transform” 3D character animation through generative AI.

The $4.3 million funding round was spearheaded by IA Ventures, with contributions from A16Z Speedrun, Acequia Capital, Cursor Capital, HustleFund, MetaVision, and JonesTrauber.

To celebrate this achievement, Uthana is launching a beta version of its “innovative platform for 3D character animation, aimed at transforming the animation and gaming development sector.”

The company stated that with its technology, “game developers will no longer be limited by predefined animation cycles or labor-intensive manual rigging,” but instead, “motion will become an integral aspect of game design, responding fluidly to surroundings, narrative developments, and player interactions.”

Uthana emphasized that its “cutting-edge” AI can animate in “minutes – not hours or days,” using simple prompts such as text-to-motion, video-to-motion, or through its motion library, where users can “employ natural language inquiries to explore the company’s archive of over 10,000 movements.”

“Our goal is to ‘pass a visual Turing test’ for human movement, producing remarkably lifelike animations,” stated Viren Tellis, co-founder.
