Each McCloud has a silver lining

With the Star Fox franchise bypassing the Switch capabilities, we have witnessed several imitators emerge to fill its gap. Yet, none have appeared as truly reminiscent of Star Fox as Wild Blue, an anticipated “contemporary rendition of the cherished on-rails escapades from the 90s” developed by Giles Goddard’s indie game studio, Chuhai Labs (Cursed to Golf, Halloween Forever).
The recent Humble Games Showcase 2025 did not display extensive gameplay, but examining the details and viewing some screenshots reveals a significant amount of Lylat System charm in its essence.
Goddard was recognized as one of the key developers on the original Star Fox, and some elements from that SNES classic will be evident in Wild Blue. In this on-rails shooter, you’ll pilot Bowie Stray and the Blue Bombers through a series of airborne combat challenges. It features anthropomorphic pilots, a flowing baron, secrets, dogfights, and maneuvers that definitely should not be called barrel rolls. Indeed, it is all very much Star Fox.
Moreover, the visuals appear to deliver an impressive experience as well. Take a look at a selection of screenshots below, along with a summary of the game’s key features:
– Experience the classic on-rails shooting adventure with fresh and updated controls.
– Explore a vibrant and dazzling world filled with stunning vistas around every corner.
– Soar through an action-packed campaign alongside a brave team of allies.
– Engage in exhilarating boss battles and dogfights against a mysterious rival squad.
– Discover hidden paths and missions in your quest to capture the flowing Baron.
– Become an ace pilot and master every mission through a straightforward yet challenging progression system.
We still have no information regarding a release timeframe or console plans for this title at the moment, with currently only a Steam version available.
