Halo Revitalizes ‘Firefight Traditional’ in Latest Operation Update

Latest objective: Keep going

Halo Infinite continues to receive all kinds of updates and has recently launched Operation: Blue Team – featuring Firefight Classic, Hot Swap, and a complimentary 20-tier Operation Pass.

This new event will run until April 8, 2025, so make the most of it while you can! Here are some key features from this latest update as detailed on the official Halo Waypoint website:

Firefight Classic

You know the drill. Each new wave brings progressively more challenging Banished enemies—5 waves make up a round, and three rounds (plus a bonus round) constitute a match. You can keep the party going as long as you want to survive. Yes, indeed, you can keep the excitement rolling with your team into next week if that’s what you desire! Or—at the end of a match—head to the extraction point to finish the game.

Be careful not to perish, as lives are limited, but you can regain them by successfully completing a bonus round.

Of course, a classic mode pairs wonderfully with some well-loved maps! Return to ONI’s base in New Mombasa as Alpha Site and Security Zone from Halo 3: ODST return, along with SWORD Facility’s Courtyard from Halo: Reach.

Hot Swap

Hot Swap puts that to the ultimate test, as this team-centric 4v4 mode alters everyone’s loadout every thirty seconds—which includes you, your teammates, and the rival team. Sometimes you’ll receive a rocket launcher, other times a plasma pistol. Whatever the situation, you’ll need to adapt your role and strategy if you and your team aim to secure victory.

It’s often noted that Halo’s gameplay is grounded in the idea of cycling through “thirty seconds of fun,” and that is what you’ll find at the core of Hot Swap.

Operation Pass

At the forefront of this Operation Pass is Kelly-087, the swiftest Spartan.

Exceptionally skilled in reconnaissance and close-quarters combat, Kelly is recognized for her incredibly fast reflexes and ability to run at speeds of 40mph over extended distances. Recently, this formidable warrior has also developed a fondness for what is regarded as “classical” music in the 26th century.

Unlock Kelly-087’s HERMES-class Mjolnir armor through the complimentary 20-tier Operation Pass. Upgrade to the Premium Pass to acquire the Wintergeist armor coating to complete Kelly’s look.
