Snyderverse enthusiasts, rejoice. Two members of that universe’s Justice League are joining forces in a fresh suspense film for Netflix. Reports indicate that the broken Cyborg and Revolt Moon star Ray Fisher will star alongside Batfleck himself in an upcoming thriller titled Animals, which will also be directed by Ben Affleck.
Connor McIntyre and Billy Ray have crafted the screenplay, which focuses on the abduction of a mayoral candidate’s offspring. Fisher is undoubtedly one of the more recent additions to the film, which already features a strong lineup of talent. Gillian Anderson, Kerry Washington, Steven Yeun, Luis Gerardo Méndez, and Adriana Paz are all part of the cast, with filming set to take place in Los Angeles. This will mark the first occasion that Fisher and Affleck will share the screen since Justice League premiered in theaters in 2017.
Originally, Matt Damon was slated to take on the role that Affleck finally accepted (and is also producing), but he had to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts with Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which seemingly consumed a large portion of Hollywood for its casting. This ultimately led to the director stepping in front of the camera as well as behind it.
This is not a new endeavor for him. This will be the fourth time Affleck has acted in a film he is also directing, with his latest endeavor being alongside Damon in Air, which chronicled the revolutionary partnership between Nike and Michael Jordan. Before Animals is released, Damon and Affleck will also star in another crime thriller for Netflix named RIP, which was hinted at during the Next at Netflix event earlier this year. That film will feature the two longtime friends and collaborators as police officers.
