No success in tracking down those monsters, huh?

The weekend has arrived once more, so it’s the perfect time for another edition of What Are You Playing!

After last week’s Pokémon extravaganza, it has been slightly quieter in Nintendo’s world over the past few days. The Game Boy NSO library was treated to a pair of popular titles, Nintendo kicked off discounting some prices ahead of MAR10 Day, and we finally received the official announcement of the worst-kept secret in the industry, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4.

In other news, we shared our insights on Everhood 2, Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster, Sorry We’re Closed and Mainframes, and went hands-on with Dotemu’s upcoming rogue ’em up, Absolum.

So, what is everyone up to this weekend?

I didn’t get a chance to play Pokémon HeartGold at all last weekend, and I haven’t played it this week either. I aim to change that, but who knows? However, I have been enjoying some time with The Thing: Remastered. It’s a bit rough around the edges, but I appreciate the quirky mechanics surrounding your teammates’ stress levels.

On the PS5, I’m still immersed in Monster Hunter World, and I must admit, it has really grabbed my attention. I never understood the attraction of the series before, but it’s definitely beginning to resonate with me this time. I want to try Monster Hunter Rise when I finish, but I believe I’ll be playing World for quite a while longer.

I still have a lot to unpack after moving last weekend, so I expect gaming will take a bit of a backseat once again. However, all this Monster Hunter Wilds talk has me itching to return to Sunbreak and even 4 Ultimate on my 3DS. I started it a little while back but never really dedicated enough time for it to truly click (funny how playing on the bus can do that to a game), so I believe it’s time for a second attempt.

Aside from that, I’m a big fan of some Picross, so the latest NSO release, Mario’s Picross, has caught my eye. The other Nintendo collaborations are quite top-notch puzzlers, so I’m eager to finally give this one a try as well.

This weekend, I’m going all out – making rogue gaming decisions that no one anticipated, just to keep you all guessing. And that mysterious cartridge sitting in my Nintendo Switch? Indeed, it’s Mario & Luigi: Brothership, once again. Fifth weekend in a row hanging out with the iconic plumbers. What can I say? They’re great company.

But if I’m feeling particularly adventurous, I’d finally start Onimusha: Warlords. I played the original as a kid, and with a vibrant new title on the way, my craving for some katana action—if that’s a thing—is certainly pulling me in.

Happy gaming, everyone – enjoy your weekend!

I’ve fallen back into a Hades rabbit hole again. Even though I’ve escaped a few times, I’ve never truly ‘completed’ the game and have dipped back in periodically over time. Strangely, I considered it might be worsening, but I realized this week that the best boons and god powers were being eliminated in the three options, which was significantly affecting me! That combined with my commitment to using the bow made things much more challenging, but as soon as I switched it up, boom, hello Greece. I still have many runs to go, but I’m feeling good. Getting stronger. Off to fly now.

I also got through the first world of DK ’94, and I should be able to breeze through it if I can pull myself away from Tartarus. Enjoy a huge w
