Through the spectacle of Netflix and the Peaky Blinders (come on, it’s too early for crude language), it has been validated that the feature-length installment of Thomas Shelby’s (Cillian Murphy) upcoming adventures will make its way to both the large screen and the smaller one upon release.
The series’ creator, Steven Knight, confirmed to The Playlist that the Peaky Blinders film, titled The Immortal Man, will have a theatrical release, allowing fans to plan an unforgettable night out. This is a dream come true for Knight, who aims to reward the viewers that spread the word about his compact gangster drama, which has reached iconic status after six successful seasons.
“It was never heavily marketed, but people just discovered it and genuinely enjoyed each other’s company while watching,” stated Knight, whose show premiered in the UK back in 2013. “And the way they are so enthusiastic about it, I really want them to experience this together in one venue because the interactions have all been online, which is fine. However, I truly want this to be in cinemas so that audiences can gather and witness this unfold.”
Knight reiterated the information that the Peaky Blinders film would indeed be hitting theaters even though Netflix had yet to make it official. “Yes. Well, I just made that announcement. So, indeed,” he confirmed.
This isn’t the first time Knight has leaked significant details regarding his beloved series and its future. In January, he disclosed (although he wasn’t supposed to) that spin-offs related to Shelby’s illegal exploits were in development. In The Immortal Man, Cillian Murphy will be joined by familiar faces, including Sophie Rundle as Ada, Ned Dennehy as Charlie Strong, and Paul Anderson as Arthur Shelby.
