Pop icon Charli XCX is eager to feature in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Chronicles of Narnia film – and we couldn’t be more excited about it.

According to Deadline, the Brat singer is in negotiations to portray The White Witch – the pampered character who tempts Edmund with Turkish Delight, leading him to betray his own family. The role of The White Witch was previously played by Tilda Swinton in the 2005 version, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.

Netflix announced its new adaptation of the beloved C.S. Lewis series back in 2018, with Gerwig officially named as director in 2022. The director of Barbie will helm two Narnia films, with the production set to commence filming in July of this year.

Producer Amy Pascal described the film in December 2024, “[It’s a] completely fresh perspective on Narnia. It’s all about rock n’ roll.” The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe first hit bookstores in 1950, and the feature-length film trilogy grossed over $1 billion globally.

Charli XCX has several films lined up: 100 Nights of Hero, Erupcja, Faces of Death, I Desire Your Sex, Sacrifice, The Gallerist, and The Second. This marks the first casting update for Narnia thus far, and we anticipate more updates as filming approaches.

The Chronicles of Narnia is set to debut in IMAX for a limited two-week global run around Thanksgiving 2026. For additional details, check out our roundup of the best Netflix films and the finest Netflix shows.
