Aims to “assist indie creators and revive iconic franchises”
Back in its heyday, Acclaim Entertainment emerged as a genuinely ambitious player in the gaming industry. It boasts a plethora of titles in its portfolio, including the initial two Burnout entries, the Turok series, NBA Jam, and of course, Mary-Kate and Ashley: Sweet 16 – License to Drive. Ah, good times.
Unfortunately, the company filed for bankruptcy in September 2004, yet now, just over two decades later, Acclaim is set to make a comeback.
However, reestablishing itself in the market in 2025 seems to necessitate a shift in Acclaim’s strategy, prioritizing the provision of funding, marketing support, and PR assistance to independent studios eager to break into the industry.
