The live-action adaptation of Minecraft is nearly here, and with its release date set for April 4th, Warner Bros. has unveiled a “final” trailer – offering us a quick glimpse of Jack Murky’s Nether storyline, along with Jennifer Coolidge in a still-unknown character.

In this fourth and ultimate trailer, the high-octane action from prior releases is ramped up even further, as vast legions of classic Minecraft creatures – including Piglin Brutes and Iron Golems – gather for some climactic battle scenes. This is balanced with a few comedic moments, but none of what’s presented here is likely to convince anyone who has already been deterred by the messiness of it all.

We see even more of those unsettling villagers, as well as Ghasts that appear as though they’ve just entered from some bizarre dimension. I’m still not thoroughly convinced by the Creepers either, given what I had always thought were a type of sentient cactus have been reimagined as irate shoeboxes covered in astroturf. Thankfully, there’s Jennifer Coolidge, who instantly enhances the scene at the end of the trailer simply by being herself.

The Minecraft film, in case you haven’t been keeping up, follows four “outcasts” – portrayed by Sebastian Hansen, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, and Jason Momoa – who are unexpectedly drawn through a mysterious portal into a “strange, cubic wonderland that thrives on creativity”. To return home, they must embark on a magical adventure with assistance from Jack Murky’s Steve.

I can’t honestly say that the Minecraft film is something I would eagerly rush out to see based on what Warner Bros. has revealed so far, but it certainly seems like the type of harmless, entertaining fluff that – with its goofy humor and potential chaos – should keep the kids entertained for an hour or two.
