Studio Ghibli enthusiasts can now enhance their collection with the remarkable All-in-One Edition of the Spirited Away Film Comic. This 856-page hardcover omnibus includes all five volumes of the previously out-of-print comic adaptation of Spirited Away. Individual volumes in the Studio Ghibli Film Comic series can be hard to find at reasonable prices, but the newly released All-in-One Editions provide a budget-friendly option for collectors. The Spirited Away Film Comic omnibus was launched earlier this week with a retail price of $35, but fans can purchase a copy for $29.75 at Amazon right now.
These graphic novels are special because they showcase the original film animation cells as illustrations. They have all been rearranged and reformatted to resemble comic book and manga panels complete with vibrant color illustrations. Spirited Away boasts a total of 856 pages, while My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki’s Delivery Service each contain 584 pages. Ponyo’s All-in-One Edition spans 592 pages.
For anyone who appreciates the artistic style of Studio Ghibli films, this is a wonderful way to “pause” a movie and focus on the intricate details of these beautifully charming stories. Since these comics include original cells and illustrations from the movies, they can also be considered affordable art books.
Hopefully, Howl’s Moving Castle, which also features a Film Comic series, will receive the All-In-One treatment next.
