Another interesting tidbit from the former PlayStation executive

Wow, we’ve certainly heard quite a bit from former PlayStation leader Shuhei Yoshida lately, haven’t we? Since departing from Sony, the PlayStation veteran has been refreshingly open about his career, interests, and just about everything else you might want to know. And now, he’s hoping for an invitation to Nintendo HQ (thanks for the tip, Push Square).

Of course, that makes it sound a bit more demanding than it truly is. In a recent discussion with the Japanese publication Gamer.ne.jp (translated via Google), Yoshida admitted that he has “never been” to Nintendo HQ and expressed a desire to visit “someday!”

As business rivals in the past, it’s understandable that the Big N may not have been rolling out the welcome mat for Yoshida and his team to enter the House of Mario. However, now that he’s moved on from his role, it seems fair game, right?

Remarkably, Yoshida never truly viewed the two companies as competitors during his time leading the PlayStation team, and he even developed a friendly relationship with Nintendo’s Yusuke Soejima. The duo shared a passion for “promoting and popularizing indie games,” Yoshida told the Japanese outlet, indicating that the notion of being “rival companies” never really entered his mind.

This is yet another delightful anecdote from the former PlayStation head, who has shared his disappointments with the Switch 2 reveal, reminisced about playing the SNES PlayStation, and has been candid about his views on the industry. What’s he going to reveal next?

Do you think Yoshida deserves a trip to Nintendo HQ soon? Share your thoughts in the comments.
