Greetings and welcome, Ninja 5-O
The Swap has a growing collection of Game Boy Advance titles, and Konami has enriched this with its latest eShop launch.
It’s the GBA action-platformer Ninja 5-O (commonly known as Ninja Cop). This Switch edition was initially released last month, and you can now download the title for USD $24.99 / GBP £19.99 (or your regional equivalent). Physical copies were also made available, but have already sold out.
As we have already mentioned, this game was originally created by Hudson Soft and debuted in 2003. It also happens to be one of the rarest titles in the GBA library, making it rather expensive. For what to expect from the digital release, here’s the official summary from Nintendo’s game page:
Ninja 5-O plunges you into the gripping narrative and relentless journey of Joe Osugi, a detective who players embody as the Ninja 5-O. Utilize a wealth of impressive ninja skills to maintain justice by solving perilous crimes such as bank robberies and hijackings. Execute unique ninjutsu techniques to safeguard the city of Zipangu and defeat the nefarious Angry Veil bosses. The key features of the game include:
>Ninjutsu, various attack modes
>Time Trial mode, where previously cleared stages can also be replayed in this timed format. Each level will have a target time, where the aim is to complete the stage before the allotted time expires.
>Save game (progress) at any moment
>Rewind feature
Additionally, there is more ninja-themed action scheduled for release in 2025 from Koei Tecmo (Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound) and SEGA (Shinobi: Art of Vengeance). Konami is also debuting its Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Series on the Switch this week, which includes several Game Boy Advance titles.
Will you be revisiting this piece of ninja gaming history? Did you play this title back in the day? Share your thoughts in the comments.
